The Hotel Villa Carona offers you your own personally run feel-good oasis above Lake Lugano. You can still get a sense of the original Ticino attitude towards life in a 200-year-old Ticino patrician house in this artist village, where Hermann Hesse spent many hours. Yet you are only ten minutes away from the bustling metropolis of Lugano.
Our family-run romantic hotel with 18 rooms offers peace, rest, and relaxation for you and your family in the typical Ticino ambience. The historical rooms are lovingly decorated and furnished with antique ornaments. All rooms also have modern bathrooms and internet connection.
Our garden is a small Mediterranean paradise. Breakfast under the open sky with a view of Monte Generoso becomes an unforgettable experience. Take it easy on our sun loungers or unwind in the hot tub filled with water heated to 36º or take a spin in the heated (April to October) outdoor pool.. This is the best kind of pleasant relaxation in carefree idleness.

"A beautiful hotel, nestled in a quaint old Ticino village and surrounded by nature. The extremely pleasant and friendly staff in the lovingly furnished hotel enable you to relax right from the moment you arrive. Something truly special: breakfast is served in the beautiful garden - we still dream about it."
Our garden is a little piece of paradise. You can take it easy on the shaded sun loungers on the large lawn and enjoy the Mediterranean vegetation. After a nice long walk, relax in the 39-degree warm water in the hot pot, as always with a magnificent view of the Ticino mountains. And your children will get their money's worth too: they'll have a whale of a time in our small playground and playing table tennis.
When the weather's nice, you can enjoy breakfast out in the open on our sun terrace in the garden with a view of the Monte Generoso. You'll have fond memories of this unforgettable experience for a long time. A cappuccino, a fine brioche, a glass of Prosecco... you can have all this for breakfast out in the open air, the very essence of delicious idleness. We've even thought of our late risers; you can help yourself to our generous breakfast buffet until 10.30am
Enjoy the relaxing bubbles in the 39° warm wooden tub: treat yourself to this experience that's as unique as it is hot and get into our new hot tub, a blissful treat even when the Ticino weather is not so great.
Now, our guests can use the hotel's own swimming pool in the garden. Now your holiday will be even more enjoyable! The matt concrete pool is elegantly embedded in our garden and its crystal clear water is reminiscent of a sparkling Ticino lake. You can even swim laps thanks to the integrated counter-current system.

Villa Carona was built in 1781, by the Andreoli family of entrepreneurs from Milan as a summer residence. For nearly 100 years, it served as their retreat to escape the heat of Milan. The patrician estate is situated on the edge of the village, flanked by the historically significant homes of famous Carona artist families such as the Scala, Petrini, Solari, and Casella families. In addition to the villa and Carona village, these families have also influenced the Moscow Kremlin, the Cathedral of Milan, and many other world-famous monuments. Villa Carona was split in half by a marriage in the Scala dynasty in the middle of the 19th century.
The large garden, the cellar, and the current structure were built at that time. The last Scala family occupant of the Villa was a railway engineer. He built railway lines in Argentina during the summer months and spent the rest of the time in Carona. The house was converted into a hotel in 1951. In 1969 and 1995, the villa was renovated again, while retaining its special charm. Today, Villa Carona is a well-maintained 3-star hotel full of antique character and warmth. Numerous historic floors have been exposed and illusionist paintings on the walls and ceilings have been revealed once more.
